1950s |
1950s Camera design is marked by a massive influx of designs as the effects of WW2 begin to dissipate. Just about camera is black with a satin chrome top housing, thermoplastic components are increasingly used for low stressed and finishing details, 35mm format is increasingly popular but 120 roll film remains top dog for the cheaper snapshot cameras as well as professional medium format work, allowing the folding camera to survive into the 1950s. Coated lenses, a rarity before the 1950s, become commonplace. Manufacturing centres are now wildly dispersed. Select a vintage camera image, below, to view details, most cameras have 360° views. Pictures are not to scale. |
