The view across Portsmouth Harbour from Portchester Castle, the large tower is Spinnaker Tower - originally conceived to celebrate the new millennium in 2000. It was, of course, both late and over budget.

The Weltix has proved to be rather soft, I had expected more from the little folder, but it falls short behind both the Collections's contemporaries, Kodak's Retina 117 and Certo's Dollina 1. The small negative has meant all the results on this page are uncropped.

Taken straight into sun, I was fully stopped down here, and even then the negative isn't crystal sharp.

Portchester castle itself. The outer walls date back to the third century AD being of Roman origin and are the best surviving in the UK. During the 11th Century a Norman Keep was added, which also still stands. It served as a royal residence at its best and a prison latterly, these days it's a visitor attraction in the care of English Heritage.

To be seen from the public footway in Riverside Park, Southampton is this delightful dragon carved from a dead tree in someone's garden. Judging from the other sculptures seen, it must be the work of the talented resident. Happily the Weltix behaved itself and the focus is as intended. I used the largest aperture I could to shorten the depth of field.

Another waterside town, but this one slightly further afield. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in February 2026. I've photographed this scene many times over the last quarter century. The first time I came I was standing on wasteland, surrounded by shanty shacks. These days it's paved. An earlier image can be found in the results gallery for the Zeiss Contina.
