The Kodak is shown with the Autographic hatch opened and the stylus partially removed from the clips. As mentioned in the main entry, the pleats are overstretched in this design. In order to keep the camera as small as possible, sheet metal was used. The space saving could only be used if the pleats had shallow folds, to avoid image cut off. This either means lots of small pleats (difficult and more expensive to make), or a small number of long pleats but stretched out so they are nearly flat when opened (cheap, easier and uses fewer materials). The downside is that the very stretched pleats have to go through greater stress and they are so tight they tend to pull the lensboard back, distorting the image. Given the budget nature of this camera, it's not surprising the cheaper route was chosen. As the camera rotates you can almost feel the strain, and see the pleats are nearly flat.
