Ihagee, Exakta Varex IIa, 35mm SLR camera, mechanicals |
Most cameras receive what we term a "deep clean" on arrival. This entails stripping down as far as possible to thoroughly clean out all the accumulated gunk, dried grease and dust that inevitably finds its way into the most seemingly impossible places. At the same time any mechanical issues are sorted out. In the case of this Varex II, there was a certain amount of rust to clean off and one set of curtains had cracked badly and needed replacing, they can be seen flopping loose at the back. After which it all went back together easily enough and lived to shoot another roll. |
