The viewing hood is only partially extended to prevent this image being too tall. Clearly someone at Houghtons was either having a severe hangover or the quality control was just sloppy, as that piece of blue velvet, that could have looked so neat, looks like it was casually thrown on from the other side of the room. Maybe it was a Friday afternoon. In 2017 we scrapped a donor camera, and robbed its lens cover, so this has since been rectified, at the same time a new hood was made incorporating the spring arrangement in the opening. The image on the main page shows the three rivets that hold this assembly in place, missing on this earlier version made during the 1990s.
