Butchers Cameo, vintage camera - all round view at 10° intervals.
Well this little Butchers Cameo is fairly unremarkable, but was the very camera that served as catalyst for the LICM. Being of early design it lacks the castings that would become common within a few years. The lens bed is from folded sheet, and the lens supports from turned bar. The result is not especially rigid and the film plane and lens are never parallel as a result. In this view the focussing hood is open, allowing a glimpse of the focus screen as it rotates. Click here for more details on using a plate camera. Start the image spinning by putting your cursor over the "Spin" side of the image, you can pause the animation in any position by touching the "Pause" side.
