Richards, Verascope - Shutter Control

14. Shutter control.

This lever determines whether the shutter is in "T" (timed) or "I" (instant) operation. When "T" is used (in common with most cameras) the shutter remains open once released, until the shutter release lever is activated again, upon which - it closes. The mechanism still needs to move the air piston to the end of its travel, so if the cylinder is sticky - the shutter will not work even though the "T" position is being used.

When the lever is set to "I", the air cylinder determines the interval between the shutter opening and closing - with all that has been said before being taken into account.
