Richards, Verascope - Darkslide

1. Darkslide.

The darkslide protects the film from exposure when the magazine is changed. It is also good practice to keep the slide in when the camera is not being used, as this will prevent any stray light from entering the magazine. The darkslide needs to be removed before taking a photograph, with the magazine fitted to the camera, two levers need to be rotated out of the way and the cover that rotates over the end of the darkslide lifted. The darkslide can now be withdrawn. It takes the form of a strip of blued spring steel.
