Heath & Sons Hezzanith vernier sextant, Serial No. C3781,
Now clearly this isn't a camera, it's inclusion in the LICM web site is to honour a friend. Hugh Kennedy was a Master mariner, every inch the archetypal sea captain with rich voice and beard to match. Hugh was master of the Halcyon for many years whilst she was based at Hamble on the Solent for the British Merchant Cadet training School. This well used Heath sextant was used to instruct hundreds of students aboard Halcyon in the art of celestial navigation. Hugh passed away in 1997, and this sextant found a path to me via his widow, Fiona, in 2014. As it was suffering from a bit of neglect and run away corrosion, I decided to restore it, and this was completed in December 2014.
The 1929 Bermuda rigged Halcyon still exists and she too has been restored.
